Letters from Afar by Asya Marakulina are painted postcards created while the artist was in Spitzbergen. These works have travelled a long, symbolic, completely analogue way from the world’s northernmost settlement to the mainland.

Graduate of the PRO ARTE Foundation's School for Young Artists (2015).
In 2015, she graduated from the Arts Department of the St. Petersburg State University with a degree in Graphics. Fellow of the Garage Support Programme for Young Russian Artists in 2015-2016. Winner of the Credit Suisse and Cosmoscow award in 2018. Took part in a series of lectures from young Russian artists called Russia Contemporary (the Saatchi Gallery, London, 2019).
Works with graphics, painting, video and animation. The first solo exhibition Once Upon a Map was held in 2014 at the PRO ARTE Foundation in the Peter and Paul Fortress. For the series of stencils and graphics Marakulina used the method of unconscious, emotional mapping, building an endless map and a route on it. Her personal exhibitions have been held in St. Petersburg and Moscow galleries and museums. She participated in many group projects and festivals in various cities of Russia, as well as in Stockholm and Helsinki
