From September 17 to October 16, 2011 PRO ARTE Foundation holds the 10th festival “Contemporary Art in Traditional Museum” in St. Petersburg.


Festival opening: Saturday, September 17 at 12.00 am in the Peter and Paul Fortress (Ioannovsky ravelin).


In 2011 festival “Contemporary Art in Traditional Museum” celebrates its 10th anniversary. This is the first city museum festival, which has existed since 2000 and for the past 10 years, presented nearly 150 Russian and foreign artists in 55 museums of St. Petersburg. Among the most remarkable projects of the festival are: “Antarctic Mission” (45 penguins placed on The Museum of Arctic and Antarctic), “The Observatory” (10 projects at the Pulkovo Observatory), “Complaints Choir of St. Petersburg”.


For this jubilee festival the PRO ARTE Foundation has prepared a special program. Among the artists – Nicholay Polissky (Moscow) and “Nikololenivetskie promysly” group, art group Provmyza (Nizhny Novgorod), Olga and Alexander Florensky (St. Petersburg), Stephen Dean (USA), Hu Yang (China), Guido van der Werve (The Netherlands) and many others.  
You will see a “parade” of toy tanks in the courtyard of the Museum of Artillery and the installation of soap at the Museum of Hygiene. American, Dutch and Russian video installations, audio projects from Sweden and Russia and photo series from China will be presented at different festival venues. In The Museum of Communication you will see 10 projects by young artists – participants of the “Contemporary art” educational program of the PRO ARTE Foundation.


Among the museums of the 10th festival are: the Museum of Hygiene, Museum of Fedor Shalyapin, Klimov Aviation Engines Museum,  Ice-breaker “Krasin”, The Museum of Traveler Pavel Kozlov and others.


An exhibition devoted to the 10th anniversary festival “Contemporary Art in Traditional Museum” will be installed in the Poterna of the Peter and Paul Fortress.


13 and 14 October, 2011 at the Concert Hall of the National Library on the Fontanka emb.- premiere of the opera “THREE FOUR” (texts – Lev Rubinstein, music – Boris Filanovsky).


During the opening days – September 17 and 18 – free buses can take you to the museums participating in the festival. Free admission to the museums on these days – with the booklet or map of the festival.
